The Good Ole’ Days

The good ole’ days. A term used in reference to the days gone by of old music, hair and clothing styles. Days which appeared to be brighter than the present. Nowadays, the term “the good ole’ days” could refer to the pre pandemic days, but I digress.

As I’ve mentioned before, the nostalgic times I tend to embrace are the 1920s and the 1950s, but also the 1940s. Not only for the music, but also for the clothing and hair styles. Men and women carried themselves a bit higher than today as evident by how they dressed in public. A stark contrast to the sloppy styles we see today.

The Music

And don’t get me started on the music. True, there are some amazing singers out there. But the airwaves seems to be flooded with fluff more than substance. Thankfully, we’ve been blessed with amazing singers who have come out over time and filled our ears with their angelic voices caressing out ears, artists like Amy Winehouse and Adele definitely come to mind.

The Hairstyles

Speaking of hairstyles, the 1940s were known for women wearing their hair in waves, curls, and pompadours, not to mention victory rolls which were inspired by Hollywood actors of the time. It was this type of hairstyle my latest model showed up with.

Not only did it compliment and fit her face, but it also reminded me of the We Can Do It! poster from Westinghouse Electric which was used to boot female morale during World War II.

The Photoshoot

I decided to use a dark colored backdrop to really highlight the model and also to be able to edit a couple of the photos in black and white which would really accentuate the vintage lady look I was hoping to capture.
