She’s a Little Bit of a French Girl

The language, the food, the music and the history.  All things I love about the French culture.  Luckily, my high school offered French classes for which I signed up for every year.  A fond memory I have took place in my second year of French II.  We were divided up into groups assigned our work but at the end we had to cook a French dish which turned out to be Coq au vin (chicken with wine).

The dish turned out rather well and our substitute teacher wrote some amazingly glowings words of praise for our teacher to read.  And believe me, we were thankful as we were not even sure if we\’d be any good at making it.  The rather amusing bit of this memory is that one of the other male students in our group took charge of the kitchen stove like the future Gordon Ramsay barely letting any of us do anything.  We acquiesced to his demanding behavior because if the dish turned out bad, we would have placed the blame solely on him (some of us did not have the cooking skills we now possess  back then).

Of course, I’m so far removed from those classes that while I can still understand French if I concentrate hard enough, I’m barely able to put together a coherent sentence aside from two word phrases here and there.  But my love of the aforementioned French culture still remains.

For this photo shoot, I did not have a French beret on hand but we did have a black hat we incorporated into the shoot to give it a little bit of a French flair and making it appear she was a little bit of a French girl. Among my favorite shots are of the model are the close up portrait shots along with her looking directly into the mirror.  The wire frame lamp shade gives the photos an almost otherworldly vintage feel as if stepping back in time.

I suggest playing the video below to enhance your viewing experience of the photos below.
