Macy and Friends
Last Minute Shoot
Last minute photoshoots are actually fun. Sure there is a bit a of panic which sets in after the realization hits; followed by the thought ‘what have I done?’ Nevertheless, who isn’t up for a bit of a challenge every now and then. It serves as quite the jolt to get the creative juices flowing and put one in the artistic imaginative mode one needs to be in order to create beautiful photography.
I was winding down for the day when I received a message on my phone from Macy asking if I could do a photoshoot with her and her entourage of friends. At the time, I wasn’t sure if my camera batteries were charged or if the lenses were clean. But I went ahead and agreed. To my surprise and relief, she was wanting a golden hour shoot in a grassy area and I knew exactly just where we would shoot.
The Location
Despite being in the Texas Panhandle, we do have our little pockets of vegetation. And I chose the same area where I primarily do all of my outdoor shoots. It also happens to be close by to where I live and not some out of the way place. It had just enough trees and grassy enough to give what Macy was looking for in the Pinterest photos she sent.
The Results
Golden hour is always a great time to shoot. The back lighting coupled with the occasional lens flare adds a sort of ethereal feel to the photos. The orange and yellows of the light add a unique glow to the skin and helps to bring out the eyes. Not to mention, it helps to amplify the natural beauty of the models being photographed. And beautiful they all are. In the end, life is better with friends.
