End of Summer Smash Burgers

The End of Summer

The final days of July heading into August have always signaled the end of summer for me. Maybe it’s the memories of August being a return to school or knowing it won’t be long before the nights will be filled with the crisp cool air of autumn.

Either way, I thought it would be a great idea end July with a good ole smash burger. And as always, double patty cuz I’m a fatty.

Ingredients

Burger Sauce:

  • Duke’s Mayo
  • Frank’s Hot sauce
  • White balsamic vinegar
  • Chipotle sauce
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • For the French Fries: Russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • Olive oil
  • Dried oregano
  • Dried Thyme
  • Lawry’s seasoned salt
  • For the smash burger: 2 4oz balls of ground hamburger (I recommend 80/20)
  • 2 slices of Kraft American Cheese
  • Tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Purple Onions
  • Mustard
  • Brioche bun
  • Sliced pickles
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

For the fries, cut into French fry slices and soak in water for 10 minutes then bake at 450°F for 25-30 minutes / Season with salt after baking

I heated a cast iron skilled to medium heat, applied a little olive oil and placed the first 4 oz hamburger ball on the skillet and proceeded to smash it down, seasoned it with salt and pepper. Cooked it for about 2-3 minutes before flipping, adding a slice of cheese and covering to allow the cheese to melt. I tend to only season one side of the patty as they do end up pretty thing. Repeat the process for the second patty.

I lightly toasted a brioche bun with butter in a stainless steel pan, applied the burger sauce, lettuce, onions pickles. Added my double patties and topped with the crown of the bun.

I dumped a generous helping of fries next to my burger and took the biggest bite I could out of this smash burger!

Enjoy!
