Emily and Chandler Engagement Photoshoot
The Couple
Emily and Chandler met way back in 2012 where they met in Amarillo High as both had been on the wrestling team. Fast forward to September 2023, and the two are finally tying the knot together.
I had met Emily in February of 2019 when I had reached out to her via Instagram for a photoshoot for myself. Little did I know she was about to reach out me for a Valentine’s boudoir photoshoot and we’ve been collaborating ever since. While I’ve done over ten shoots with her, I’ve yet to do mine (eventually, I will, Emily!)
The Shoot
The couple had decided on a Western theme for their engagement photos. Normally, Emily and I argue ( 😉 ) over color vs black and white photos. As you can see in the photos, she has a beautifully colored sleeve and wants it showcased in all it’s vibrant colors ( as she should) . Now imagine my surprise when she requested that some of the photos be in black and white! To which she has no argument from me.
Given the theme, I knew the perfect location to shoot. Channing, TX, just shy of an hour northwest of Amarillo has an old cowboy church, dilapidated sheds and a run down mercantile looking ship complete with antiques sitting outside .
After shooting in Channing, we drove out to the countryside to take full advantage of golden hour. My favorite photo of the shoot was the two of them by the fence looking off into the distance. In a rare moment, aside from some slight skin retouching, the colors in that one photo are untouched and straight out of camera. In my opinion, there’s simply no beating the colors of a Texas sunset.
I was really pleased on how this shoot turned out and especially how I was entrusted by a fellow photographer to capture a very important moment in her life.
