A Lady About Town

Some people are just different and you know it from the start. You don’t know them and yet, you know they are unforgettable. – Jm Storm .

I\’ve always striven to tell a story with my photography.  It helps to visualize the kind of shoots I do as well as what kind of angles I\’ll need to find before I press the shutter.  It feels like a mini movie playing in my head the days leading up to a shoot.  When you have a model with movie star looks like Jaslyn, it makes it all the more easier in developing the theme.  We utilized three different backgrounds each giving off their own vibe.  We first used a chain link fence surrounding a scrap yard to convey a sense of adventure and wonder.  For the second background, we used the downtown buildings and streets to give a bit more sophistication and elegance.  And lastly, the archways of a church to create a unique backdrop found nowhere else in the area.

With each location, it helped to give the model with the same outfit, a different dimension and feel.  As with all photo shoots, I still have trouble deciding between color and black and white.  Therefore, I decided to mix it up with my edits.  Earlier in the day, I struggled with proper exposure given how I was contending with racing clouds overhead dramatically changing the light.  I kept my aperture set to 2.8/f and left my ISO at 100.  That way, all I had to worry about was my shutter speed.

One thing I hate is interrupting the flow once it’s gotten off the ground.  And it would have been interrupted if I had to stop every few minutes to keep fidgeting with the settings.  Thankfully, this wasn’t the case and we were able to create some amazing shots.

There is something rather intriguing with a lady about town.  An elusive element about her as she transitions from one environment to the next.  Standing out as different yet at the same time blending in seamlessly.
