Vintage Vibes
The First Shoot
January always brings in a sense of renewed hope when the new year starts. For me, it brings about a sense of new shoots and to see what creativity has in store for me.
But instead of a “new” look per se, for this shoot we decided to go a little bit retro when it came to the edits. Combined with a beautiful green couch, plant, coffee table and a simple background, we definitely had some vintage vibes going on.
The Look
Breezy decided on a little punk rock look with her thigh high boots, tank top and mini skirt in to round out the outfit. With her tattoos, she really wore that outfit and helped to better the vintage vibe we were going after.
The Location
For the location, we used the downstairs of a loft. It created a little bit of a difficulty. Since I was using the Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI , the rafters above us kept dispersing the light in randoms ways. Thankfully, I went ahead and brought my ring light to make up for the difference. I think it really worked well down there as it created good looking shadows and I was able to bounce the light off the bright walls.
The Look
For this vintage vibe, I chose on accentuating the green in the couch and complete the overall look with a sort of yellowish hue, almost as if the photos were developed from an old vintage negative film strip precariously discarded then rediscovered, developed and hung on a wall in some old small town home.
While I was editing, it did help that I was listening to a playlist labeled as “Oldies II”. Its a mix of 1960s and 1970s songs, I created way back in high school on cassette tapes (yes you read that correctly). I felt that it put me in the right mindset in order to create the vintage vibe you see below.
