At the Coffee Shop
Coffee. It’s a part of everyone’s morning routine. Well, maybe not everyone but certainly mine. And I’d like to think those folks enjoy coffee as much as I do, include it as part of getting their day started.
Getting Started
When I wake up in the morning, oddly enough, I do not automatically start a fresh pot. I brush my teeth, shower, and then only after my shower, do I start a pot of coffee. First, I grind the coffee beans to a medium coarse grind, add the water for two and a half cups, and hit the brew button. There is something rather soothing about smelling a pot of coffee brew while I shave in the morning.
The Pour
Time slows down when I\’m walking toward the kitchen as I anticipate the first pour. I grab my coffee mug and pour a minimal amount of Nestle Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Creme first and then I add my coffee. The waterfall of coffee from the well used pot comes rushing out of the spout like water rushing over Niagra Falls. The meeting of coffee and creamer turns into a turbulent clash of cold and hot only reaching peace before skirting the brim of the mug.
The First Sip
Picture a snow monkey in hot springs at the Jigokudani monkey park in Yamanouchi, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. That\’s me. That\’s exactly me after my first sip. That will always be me. At this point, nothing else matters. Well, except maybe my cat asking to play.
The Photoshoot
For this shoot, Emily and I decided to shoot down 6th Street in Amarillo, TX. This street has an eclectic blend of buildings, shops, and restaurants all colorful to the eye. We chose the The 806 Coffee Shop. It\’s a cool little spot and hangout for coffee, tea and to get a quick bite to eat. The bathrooms are covered in crazy graffiti and the walls are adorned with beautiful paintings. It is a very warm and inviting place and a perfect setting for a photoshoot.
